I have been obsessed with photography pretty much my whole
life, from the age of seven my grandfather sparked off an
interest that was to shape my life. He was an engineer by
trade and a damn good one, but he also had a strong passion
for photography.
It didn’t take long for his passion to rub off on me; by
the age of twelve I had set my sights on being a
professional photographer. I wasn’t sure how I was going to
get there but I knew that’s where I was headed.
Luck was to play its part as by the age of sixteen I was
offered a job as an assistant in a local studio working for
a great photographer going by the name of Lionel Salem. I
have gotten to know some great people in this industry, but
I think Lionel was the greatest. A small man, but huge in
stature he probably had the greatest impact on my career
(outside of my grandfather starting it all). Sadly Lionel
died about five years later, a great loss to photography.
A few years down the road I decided that the time was right
to start my own business. That was about nineteen years
ago, in that time I have been fortunate to win many
accolades including UK Portrait Photographer of the Year
and 5 Kodak European Gold Awards for Excellence.
Having spent over half my life as a photographer (don’t
tell anyone, I’m 41 now) I feel lucky to still have the
passion that my grandfather gifted me.
