Industrial Photography in Northern Ireland

Industrial environments call for a different kind of photography — one that understands both the technical side of heavy engineering and the practical realities of working safely on an active site. Over thirty years I've photographed everything from shipyards to power stations to manufacturing floors across Northern Ireland and beyond.

Recent work includes documenting the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, including drone photography of the gantry cranes over the Victoria Channel, and photographing Seapeak's engineers aboard the Eduard Toll LNG carrier during a marine engineering assignment. I've produced ongoing international brochure photography for Valk Welding's robotic welding systems, and climbed the 650ft chimney at Killroot power station for a very different kind of industrial shot.

Access and safety planning are usually the real work behind an industrial shoot — understanding a site's procedures, working around live machinery, and knowing how to get a useful angle without getting in anyone's way. I bring my own risk assessments and I'm comfortable working to a client's site induction and safety requirements, including drone operations in restricted airspace where needed.

Whether it's documenting a manufacturing process, a construction project, or the scale of a major industrial site, my aim is to produce images that are technically accurate and genuinely compelling — the kind that show what a business actually does, not just what it looks like from the car park.
